The format of the IPL and the quality of the teams make it very difficult to answer as to which one will win. But Vishwas Mudagal, CEO of Castle Rock Research India is rooting for his favourite Royal Challengers Bangalore.
SI: Which of the eight teams do you think will win the IPL 3 Series and why do you think so?
VM: The format of the IPL and the quality of the teams make it very difficult to answer this question. The team which consistently performs may reach the final four but we can never guarantee a particular team will win the final. However, few teams look good. For instance, Deccan Chargers, Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers – these would be my favorites. Mumbai Indians and Kolkata Knight Riders have made a huge come back this season by winning the early games – so they can go to win as well. Personally, I support Bangalore because I am a die-hard Bangalorean.
SI: Can you kindly narrate an anecdote or some interesting personal experience that highlights your association with cricket? {it could be your cricket experience during school/college days}
VM: I have been playing cricket from a very young age and have taken keen interest over the years. We played gulli cricket in a variety of formats and those were the most memorable moments. The most enjoyable experience was playing what we called ‘one-pitch-catch’ cricket. The field for this format was very small, may be a room or a veranda. And you get out even if anyone catches the ball after the first pitch. The batsmen had to make sure the ball doesn’t bounce after you hit it. So, this one-pitch cricket gets very fast paced, competitive with lots of fun.
