In this post, Vishwas talks about why we have stopped thinking freely.

Where the mind is without fear.

We often forget what it is to think free as we grow up. We are bound by rules, dogmas, societal pressures & worse our own inhibitions. Our freedom of thought dies a slow but certain death. It’s sad but true.

Last weekend, I happened to visit a school for an event & saw this beautiful & meaningful poem painted on the wall. It’s written by Rabindranath Tagore, his words reminded me of how we are actually supposed to think, free & bold.

It reads-

“Where the mind is without fear and the head is held high

Where knowledge is free

Where the world has not been broken up into fragments

By narrow domestic walls

Where words come out from the depth of truth

Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection

Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way Into the dreary desert sand of dead habit

Where the mind is led forward by thee Into ever-widening thought and action

Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.”

Beautiful, isn’t it?

After reading this, I was left wondering why & when did we stop thinking free?

What happened to us? Well, it’s never too late. Sometimes, we need to go back to school to learn what we forget. Having a mind without fear is certainly one of them.
