In this post, Vishwas talks about how the times have changed when it comes to networking and how successful people in this generation need to grow their networks.

Not long ago, someone asked me why am I wasting time on LinkedIn. ‘Networking is a waste of time,’ told another senior executive.

I’m surprised to hear such bizarre statements. Most people fail to understand the power of networking. But the fact is ‘Your Network is Your Networth!’

Gone are those days when it was privilege to be unreachable & unapproachable. It used to be the fashion before. That’s pretty much over now.

The new ‘successful’ people are ridiculously approachable. They listen to everyone & respond to genuine messages. They even reach out to anyone who they think can add value.

The ‘new’ hotshot is a person who mingles with people & figures out a way to make sense of all their connections. They make use of this powerful web of people to get jobs, crack deals or influence policies. Ultimately, becoming successful in their field.

This is the reality!

As a professional, it’s your priority task to ensure you create a network that you can count on. So, stop feeling awkward about networking & start spending 30 minutes everyday connecting/ talking to people. Help people with your knowledge/domain expertise. It might feel pointless to start with but in a few years, you will become a powerhouse!

30 minutes networking everyday! That’s all it takes!
